TAIRUA BROKEN HILLS. The following telegram was received 1 the secretary of the Taihia Broken Hi! Gold ■' Mining Company yesterday from fcl mine superintendent (Mr. H. H. Adams) :• " Driven 18ft on the new reef, value great improved.'' This refers to the reef cut few days ago in the western crosscut at tl battery level, and which gave an assi value of £2 lis per ton. WAIOTAHI. ; The *■Waiotahi old Mining Company new battery was given a trial run yesterda; In all probability the battery will commem work on inferior ore at the beginning ■ next week. ■'; : . :; "-V ':■, [BY TEM'.GBAPH. — CORRESPONDENT.] "Thames, Thursday. Masefiold,"cliai: man of directors, presided, and in introdm ing the business -expressed regret at tli . fact that i shareholders had not shown a inclination to take up the shares; with view to further exploiting the mine, coi oerning the future prospects of which h was very hopeful. ■ On Mr. Masefield' nu tion, it was then decided that the affairs ( the \ company be voluntarily wound up, an Mr. A. L. White was appointed liquidatoi An informal discussion '.followed, in th course of which it was suggested that th company should be re-formed, .or the min and- plant' taken over by a syndicate, wit a view to .putting the tunnel further int the hill, and crosscutting. Nothing definit was, '■' however, decided upon, but it vra suggested that if the property was ' take over by a company the present shareholder should be * given the , option of becomin associated with : the syndicate. WAIHI WARDEN'S COURT. . •At a fitting of the Waihi Warden Court on Wednesday the Waihi Extende Gold Mining Company was granted a, 'cm tificate of reduction to 10 men for a perid of , six ; months for- the Waihi Extende special quartz claim. A reduction to tw men in the. section known as the Prid Extended claim was also granted to th company for a similar term, and 12 months protection was granted iii the case of th special sites known as "A" and B." , KOMATA REEFS. f; The following-report- on development ope rations in the Kornat* Reefs mine has beei forwarded by mail to the London office o the . company: — t ■ '-* No. 8 level: Drive north on No. 2 Distanc driven, 14ft ;' total, 204 ft. Tin winze is now pretty well down to the stopes oi No. 3 level. This block of stopei is now being extended northwards over the larg< run -of, ore we have been driving on during tin last few months. Smithy level, No. 1 reef second block Sloped, 3,1 fathoms; average widtl of reef, Bft; value, £2" 10*. flattery: Good headway is being made with th( alterations and additions to the battery. Tin new tube mill is in its place, and will soon Ik ready for running. The new zinc boxes (eight are all in position, and a start is being made with' the installment of the vacuum filters. ft small water-race is being constructed with iju object of bringing in some waste water at a low level. This will come in for battery and ot.liei purposes, and thus save the high pressure water which is used for power. . MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS. New Four-in-Hand (November 22):'. The two tributes in tin Cuirassier Gully are still getting a little gold. Vanguard (November 22):. Low level- crosscut— This has been advanced lift for the past weel by; the contractors,'' making a total J distance o! 40ft., f , This crosscut ; was in 1320ft,when the con tractors started, so 'that the full distance it 1360 ft. There is very little change in the 'appearance of the country as yet. The heavy flow of water mentioned in my last has eased off a good deal. ' . , ~
