LABOUR PROSPECTS IN AUSTRALIA.

WARNING TO ENGLISH EMIGRANTS. By Telegraph Association.—Copyright. London, November 22. Mr. W. E. Steadman, an English labour leader, has published a letter he has received from Mr. Cochrane, secretary of the Sydney Trades and Labour Council, warning intending emigrants of the serious labour outlook in New South Wales. Mr. Cochrane says the number of workless in Australia, together with the complicated land laws, prevent settlement, and droughts make fanning very hazardous. Very many artisans are unemployed owing to the crowded condition of the labour market. The Agents-General consider''.that the statements in this letter are misleading, and that already they are making emigrants with some capital afraid to venture to Australia.'.
