' word,"; those present returned the following '• verdict That this meeting is dissatis- : fied with Mr. Thompson's' explanation." A motion was proposed by Mr. rod wham, " That the explanation given by .him was , - satisfactory, and that the -meeting had' ,; every confidence in him as a fit and proper ' person to represent them in . " Mr., Greenslade said ho. was in favour of ex-'-'.; tending the franchise for local bodies, but would not allow 11011 -ratepayers to vote on a question of borrowing money. Mr. Irvine asked Mr. Greenslade whether in his ' opinion the present Government had distributed the public works funds to the various districts in accordance with the just r requirements. Mr. Greenslade replied: "I say 110, we have not had a fair nor equitable share of public expenditure." ' Bennett occupied the chair. The. speaker carried the' meeting with him throughout. Mr. T. Gubb moved and Mr. J. A. Shepherd seconded, "That this meeting thanks : Mr. Harding for his' address, and again expresses approval and appreciation of his services as Kaipara's ( representative for the past three years." 1 This was carried almost unanimously.
