MACMAHQN'S DRAMATIC COMPANY. That a good all-round dramatic organisation appeals to a large portion'of the Auckland theatregoers has been fully exemplified by the. success attained by MooMahon's Company at His Majesty's Theatre during the first three nights of their season. Last evening, despite strong counter-attractions, another good audience witnessed the production of the exciting and enjoyable piece, " Saturday Night in London." Tho various characters were well sustained, and the leading artists were exceptionally well received. •
"Saturday Night in London" will occupy the boards until Saturday, when the English drama, "The Painted Woman," will bo presented for the first time in New Zealand. JESSIE MACLACPILAN'S PROVINCIAL TOUR In response to numerous requests from residents of tho provincial centres to sing in their towns, Miss Jessie Maclachlan, the famous Scottish singer, prior to leaving for America on December 8, will give a series of five concerts at the following: — Hamilton, Thursday (St. Andrew's) night, November 30 : Rotorua, Friday, December 1: Waihi, Monday, December 4; Paeroa, Tuesday* December 5; Thames, Wednesday, December 6, and will return to Auckland for a farewell concert at tho Choral Hall on Thursday, December 7. WESTMINSTER GLEE SINGERS. .Mr. Edward Branseombe and his talented party are at present enjoying a well-earned respite in tho Rotorua district. They return to Auckland to proceed on their journey to San Francisco by way of Suva and Honolulu. Before quitting these shores Mr. Branseombe has consented to - give a sacred recital at St. Matthew's Church on Tuesday evening next, in aid of the St. Matthew's choir fund. This will bo of particular interest to church choirs, as it is intended to give examples of several forms of cathedral singing, including numbers especially selected from the repertoire of the Westminster Abbey Cathedral choir. The party will, en route to Rotorua, appear as under:—To Aroha, this evening; Hamilton, Thursday; Cambridge, Friday; Rotorua, Saturday; and at tho Thames on Monday.
The Ponsouby Shakespere and Rhetoric Club read "The Merchant of Venice" this evening at the. Leys Institute. This is the last Siiakespcrian reading tho club will give this season.
A large and influential committco of friends and admirers of Miss Rimmer have decided to show their practical sympathy with her on her. recovery from her recent long and severe illness by tendering her a complimentary concert in the Y.M.C.A. on Monday evening next. The committee have .received much encouragement from a largo number of lady and gentlemen vocalists, who have offered their services. A bazaar, in aid of the Sacred Heart Church and Sisters of Mercy Convent, Ponsonby, will be held in the "Foresters' Hall, Newton, next month. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. A. M. Myers) will op-en the bazaar on the evening of December 22. A sale of work in connection with the Women's Guild of St. Mary's Cathedral; Parnell, will be hold in the Parish Hall, Parnell, on Friday and Saturday next. Goods from England, France, ami Japan will ho on sale, and there will be musical entertainments both evenings. A concert will bo given in the Choral Hall on December 1 by Miss Violet Mount, prior to her departure for Europe. Miss Mount will bo assisted by a number of leading local vocal and instrumental artists, and a choir of 50 ladies.
