A GIRL'S SUICIDE.
A DISTRESSING OCCURRENCE. (BY TELEGRAPH.— PRESS ASSOCIATION.] x Wellington; Monday. A girl, '19 years of age. named Isabella Goodman, gave birth to a child some time during Saturday night, and afterwards left the house in which she was living, and drowned herself in a small lake- in Newtown Park. The unfortunate girl had been working in a laundry, and lived in lodgings. The child is alive and well. At the inquest the evidence showed that deceased came to Wellington from Nelson about eight months ago. • The people with whom she was living had not suspected that she was enciente, though a married sister had questioned her on the subject. A young man named George Williams, who knew deceased in Nelson and Wellington, admitted the paternity of the child. Ho said deceased had never said anything to him about her condition. A verdict of suicide whilst of unsound mind was returned by the jury. '
