SERIOUS TRAP ACCIDENT.
OCCUPANTS THROWN INTO A 1 . DITCH.
SEVERE INJURIES.
A .serious accident occurred at Putaruru on Friday night. A party set out soon after seven o'clock to attend a dance?at Lichfield, and 'shortly after leaving some portion of the, buggy gave way, precipitating the occupants into a ditch. The injured were removed to their homes, and all that was possible done to relieve their sufferings until medical aid arrived, which, owing to the isolation of the place, could not be obtained until Saturday morning, when Dr. Seville, of Morrinsville, was communicated with, and promptly arrived by express. All the occupants of the vehicle are suffering more or less from shock, but the following have received more serious injuries: — Mr. Hal ford, dislocated shoulder. Mrs. Halford, severe bruises on head and face. Mr. Partridge, internal injuries. Mrs. Miller, broken arm. Mrs. Barrett, injuries to back and chest. At the time of writing all the sufferers were making a satisfactory recovery, but it will be some weeks before many of them forget their disastrous trip to Lichfield. As instancing the difficulties the doctor has to contend with in treating cases at a distance from hi:; homo, it may be said that after attending to the Putaruru sufferers, he had to ride on a rail jigger 40 miles on a dark night, arriving home at half-past one o'clock on Sunday morning.—(Own Correspondent.) *
