HOSPITAL AND CHARITABLE AID BOARD.
The fortnightly meeting of the Auckland Hospital and Charitable Aid Board" was held yesterday afternoon, there being present: Messrs. G. J. Garland, A. Bruce, W. R.Bloomfield, J. Bollard, M. Casey, L. J. Bagnall, and E. Davis. In the absence of the chairman (Mr. J. McLeod), Mr. Garland was voted to the chair. '. ■
•/Attempted Suicides: The Justice Departraant, writing in regard to the question of police supervision over hospital patients after attempted suicide, stated that the matter would be taken into consideration. - '. Children's Entertainment: Mr. E. W. G. Rathbono wrote stating that, subject to the approval of the Board, ho proposed to. arrange for an entertainment (including a Christmas, tree) for .the benefit of the children in the hospital on Saturday, December 23. The offer was accepted with thanks. Honorary Medical Staff: The honorary medical staff submitted a number of recommendations, including the removal of the children into No. 1 Costley ward and the conversion of .No. 2 ward into a male operating ward. It was also asked that a new operating table be provided. The requests, which were endorsed by the Hospital Committee, were agreed to, subject to the approval of the Inspector-General. . Nurses' Tennis Court: It was reported by the matron that the now asphalt tennis court had been completed and handed over to the nurses' tennis club. The Board was thanked for giving such a tine site for the court; and the subscriptions of numerous friends were also acknowledged.
