. ■ - OFFICERS' MATCH AT PENROSE. The officers of the "Blue" battalion, consisting of the artillery and engineer corps, and the officers of the "Kharki" battalion fired a friendly shooting match on Saturday afternoon at the Penrose rifle range. The conditions provided for were: Teams 10 a-side, the firing to be at the- 200 yds and 500 yds ranges, 10 shots at each distance. The Blues won by 17 points, and considering tho small amount of practice indulged in by most of the otlicers the shooting on the whole was very <*ood, some, excellent scores being made. Captain Gardner captained the winning team, and Lieutenant Cox the "L-harkiS. The following are the scores:-- . Blues: Lieutenant Ewan, 89; Captain Gardner, 87; Lieutenant Forbes. 87;: Captain Hazard. £6; Lieutenant Aylett, B\S;, Lieutenant Sherson, 80; Lieutenant Knyvett 75; Lieutenant Hewson, 75: Captain Spinley, 62; Captain Murdoch, 50; total, 774' . RIFLE COMPETITION AT WAIHI. [lit TELEGRAPH.—OWN correspondent.] Waihi, Saturday. To-day the members of the No. 3 Ohinemuri Rifles fired the second competition tor a set of carvers. Tho ranges were 200 yds and SOOyas, with 10 shots at each distance. The following are tho scores:— Corporal Comes, scratch, total 94 points; Private h. Moore, handiean 8, total 92; Lieutenant Ready, scratch, total 91; Private Parslow, scratch, total 91; Sergeant Gardiner, handicap 6, total 90; Private Clarkiri, scratch, total 87; Lance-Cornoial Magee, handicap 5, total 85; Private Davies, handicap 8, total 36; Private Salmon, scratch, total 81; Leckie, handicap 8, total 78.
