PROTRACTED STONEWALL. By Telegraph.— Association —Copyright.; ' Melbourne, November 18. The stonewall continues, all attempts at a i.ompromise having failed. Mr. ReM arrives from Sydney this afternoon to take' a hand. The Speaker announced that if the debate was unfinished he would not sit beyond midnight. - (Received November 19, 5.9 p.m.) Melbourne, . November 19. The stonewall was adjourned at midnight on Saturday till half-past ten or Monday' morning. At eleven p.m. Mr. . Reid annouHced that the Opposition intended to leave the House at midnight and allow the Gevernment *todo as they liked. Mr. Deakin.sa.id he had already sent a message to Mr. Reid that the Government did not. intend to sit after midnight, but as this was , refused, he would resume after the Sabbath was past, and continue till the Government's resolution was carried. Either business would have to be done, or another Government" would have to be put in office. Mr. Reid replied that he had not received Mr. Deakin's message. •
