'. ■ 'TRAINING NOTES. ' - ' •' At Tleniington this morning- Gladsome ran ten -furlongs in 2m. 13s. Alaniapoto easily beat Marmont over two miles in 3m. 40,3. Hue. Spec galloped, a like distance in 3m. 445. Canteen beat Emir over 11 furlongs in 2m. 30s. Warroo and Tartan covered nine furlongs in lm. 58is. The Infanta (alone) ran nine furlongs in 2m. Is.. Lord Eitzroy and Jargoon accomplished a like task. Elvo and Scot Free compassed 11 furlongs in 2m. 31s. Thackeray ran a mile in lm. 495. Auratc traversed 11 furlongs in 2m. 345. Roller, Simoda, and Torah were companions over 10 furlongs, which was completed in ;2rn. 15s. Lady Wallace galloped a mile in lm. 495., while Charles Stuart completed a' like journey in lm. 485.. - . ■-- : " THE BETTING. , .' ;■■ In the betting on the Cup Tartan is in demand, but Maniapoto is slightly easier, though it is believed he will harden again after this morning's gallop. Scot Free was backed to win £2000, and is now quoted at 10 to 1, Gladsome being supported at a point longer. For the Derby 200 to 100 was taken about Lady Wallace. The books are offering 4 to 1 bar one;; , ■ '■'.'■ Later. For the Derby Lady Wallace, is favourite at 7 to 4 against, and 4 to 1 offered on the field. For the Cup Canteen has been backed to win £3000 at 1000 to 3 and 4, and a wager of 1000 to 70 has been accepted about Marvel Loch. Blue Spec is at 15 to 1, Warroo 10 to 1., Emir has eased somewhat. The A.R.C. handicap per, Mr. Evett, has been granted three months' leave of absence on the ground of ill-health. The committee have appointed Mr. J. Chadwick to act as deputy handicapper during the period for which Mr. Evett is on leave. .
