Architects AND BUILDERS

the; Decent CONFERENCE. A . special -I. meeting of ;: the .Auckland Builders' .-Association' was held yesterday, afternoon, for the purpose of receiving the report of the delegates of the recent conference of architects and builders at Timarvi. The president (Mr. C. ■ Blomield) presided, and there was a good attendance. ■.. v ..

The secretary, (Mr. S.I. Clarke), in a verbal report of the proceedings at the recent conference, stated that the result had fully justified tlio holding of the : conference , Some 800 or 900. builders were represented, and till 'the points of difference were harmoniously disposed of 'The architects sub-, mitted a' list of objections to the conditions drawn up by the builders, and on these being considered one by one the matters in dispute were adjusted to the satisfaction '-, of \ both parties. The actual alterations made in the conditions could not be definitely stated until the arrival of the official minutes of the proceedings, but so far as the builders; were concerned they had every reason to be well satisfied. The clauses relating to finality' of contracts had been much more ; clearly defined, and this would be greatly to the advantage, of both architects and builders. It was expected- that copies of the new conditions would be ready for issue by December 1, but it was possible that they, would be ready before that date, and they would be attached to all contracts thereafter entered into. • On the motion of Mr.. J. J. Holland, a hearty' vote of thanks was accorded to the delegates (Messrs. C. Blomfield, G. Baildon, and S. I. Clarke), and it was also resolved, on the president's motion, to thank the Timaru Builders' . Association for the courtesy extended to, the Auckland representatives during their slay in that town.""
