THE PAKURANGA HOUNDS.
The meet of the iPakurauga hounds oa Saturday was at Puhi Nui, the picturesque estate of the popular master of the hounds, Mr. W. McLaughlin. There was more than an average attendance of members and friends. The day was warm and bright, and a generous welcome was extended to all by Mr. and Mrs. McLaughlin. Hounds were thrown off to the right of the avenue, and a liar© was eoo.n started, but owing to the quantity of cover, and the rough character of the country, followers were unable, to participate to the. extent desired.. The : hounds, howevM-, worked well, and with a, L °i? C !i S °°c!L and fc bo-quarry was eventually Killed, Shortly afterwards a move was made to the two hills at the back ot the estate, and the whip was kept busy keening the ■ hounds off the rabbits, which abounded'. 'At length a hare was started, and she crossed tne creek, the hounds again having the chase to themselves. Lewis, on Tin; Mr. j ': Wallace, on Honey; Messrs. T. mid W. MeLaugnlm; Mr. J. Jack, on Tuni; Mr. &■ Laxon, on Flower of Gold; Mr. Tom Jsro>vu, on a chestnut; Mr. J. Alexander, on Roger; Mr H. Alexander, on Freemount; m. L. laylor, on Dandy Dick: Mr. H. B. Kinlooh.'on a bay; Mr. H. Wilson. Mr. ™"; and many others. Driving were: i\f' Auckland, Mr, D. Buckland, Mr. and Mrs. H. 0. Tonks, Mr. Brio Tonks, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd, Mr. and Mrs. A. S. Baker, Mr. A. R. Ham's, and others. The meet next Saturday will be at St, Anne's Bridge, and the point-to-point annual steeplechase Will take place at Mr. rev > prop rapatop.too. "
