DOUBLE WEDDING AT BUCKINGHAM
PALACE. The private chapel at Buckingham Palac* was beautifully decorated with white flowers, ferns, and palms on July 10 for the double wedding of the Queen's maids-of-honour— < the Hon. Dorothy Vivian and the Hon. Many Hart-Dyke. 'Hie respective bridegreoms were Major-General Douglas Haig and Captain M. G. Bell, .Rifle Brigade. Both the King and the Queen attended the ceremony (Her Majesty wearing a lovely mauve and white gown), accompanied by. Princess Victoria, and sat in the Royal pew. The Hon. Dorothy Vivian, who is the second daughter of Louisa Lady Vivian,; looked charming in her rich white satin gown, which was embroidered in chenille and draped with Brussels lace. She wore a diamond necklace, the Queen's gift, and a wreath of orange blossom, and was gives away by her brother, Lord Vivian. THE QUEEN THROWS A SLIPPER. The Hon. Mary Hart-Dyke, who waf given away by her father, Sir William Hart Dyke, also wore a beautiful white satii gown, which Captain Bell had .specially em . broidered for her in India. The double ceremony was performed by the Rev. Edgai JShcppard, and their Majesties signed th< register at the conclusion of the ceremony. There were neither bridesmaids nor pages. Luncheon was provided in (he Palace. As , the brides left the Palace the Queen smilingly threw a slipper after them for luck. Louisa Lady Vivian held a reception later in the afternoon at 27, Chesham Place, where the magnificent wedding presents were then on view. . The Queen sent a.shawl and a diamond ' tiara convertible into a necklace, wliile the King's gift was a ruby and diamond pendant, and Princess Victoria's was a star sapphire and diamond bracelet. The Prince, and Princess of Wales gave a gold muff chain, with the Prince of Wales' feathers in diamonds. The happy couple started in a motor-car for Warwickshire, where the early part of the honey' moon will be spent, the bride travelling in a white taffeta gown. Sir William and Lady Emily Hart-Dyke received their guest) at the Hans Crescent Hotel. The Royal gifts were practically the same to eacJ bride. ' • , . '
