TIDAL WAVE SIX FEET HIGH. GREAT DESTRUCTION' OF PROPERTY. By Telegraph.—Press Association—Copyright. (Received August 25, 11.18 p.m.) Sydney, August 25. Details of the recent hurricane in the Marshall Islands show that 71 lives were lost. Jaluit, the chief German station, wa« almost completely submerged. A tidal wave 6ft high .swept over the island, leaving devastation everywhere in its track, The Jaluit Company's big jetty and all the floating plant were swept away. There was great destruction of copra. The only houses left standing are those of the Governor and of the mission station. Many of the natives took refuge there.
