The Premier has informed a deputation which waited upon him in the interests of the unemployed, that the function of the State was to see that the people did not starve, but not to find work. The Government would find food, and even a stick of tobacco, for the unemployed, but it would go no further. It would give what work was available, but it would not provide work in the shape of relief when such work was not required. Ho would receive no more deputations on the subject,
