GENERAL FORESTIER-WALKER APPOINTED. , By Telegraph Press Association.— London", July 25. General Forestier-Walker has been appointed Governor of Gibraltar, "in succession to LieutenantGeneral Sir William Nicholson, who resigned recently. Field-Marshal Sir George While vacated the Gibraltar command last year, having held it since 1900. General Nicholson was appointed to succeed him; but was then with the Japanese army in Manchuria. It has been recently reported in the English newspapers that General Nicholson is to succeed General Ly Helton as First Military Member of the Military Council and Chief of the General Staff. General, ForestierWalker fought in the Kaffir war, 1877-8; the Zulu war of 1879; and commanded the troops in Egypt from 1889 to 1895. ll© was in command of the lines of communication in South Africa from 1899 to 1901.
