The police intervened, and there was a desperate 'fight, in which many on both sides were injured.

The' Dod Cossacks have again protested against being employed in work that should be undertaken by police. One Cossack regiment has refused to perform police duty. At a recent meeting of the nobility of the Don, it. was decided, to protest .against the Cossacks being used as police, on the ground that such work was contrary to their traditions and to military dignity.
