The range of prices was: Prime heavy wethers, 24s to 27s-medium-weights, 21s Cd to 23s Gd; light and unfinished, 19s Gd to 21s; prime heavy ewes, 22s to 2»s; good, to 21s Gd; aged and medium, lis to issj prime merino wethers, 18s to 21s 3d; ordinary, from Ms 3d. ' Fat cattle: Two hundred and twenty head were penned, of which considerably less than half were really prime. The sale was dragging until town the close, when there.was an improvement, rices for really prime quality showed little change, but medium and inferior beef was easier. A line of steers from J. B. Eeid (Canowie) made £10 15s to fell }]* Gd; 18 from the Peninsula, £9 15s to £11 17s 6d; 12 from G. a. A good yarding of veal calves sold at 7s 6d to £2 18s. Store and dairy cattle: Only a few small lots of store cattle were yarded, and sales were not sufficient to afford quotations. There was a fairly large entry of dairy cows, and good sale for useful Borts at £7 to £8 IBs, and extra good to £9 10s; other sorts, £4 10s to £6 10s. Pigs: The entry of fat pigs was a fairly large one, but there was not a very numerous yarding of stores, and they were mostly small. Baconers sold at about last week's rates. Porkers were easier, and there was not much demand for stores. Eighty baconers sold at 35s to 40s; heavier, 42s Gd to 49s Gd (equal to 3p to 3Jd per lb); light porkers, 21s to 255; heavier, 27s Gd to 32s (equal to 4d to 4Jd per lb); medium stores, 12s Gd to 18s; and weancrs, 5s to 9s Gd. • .
