On April 10 a lot,of wreckage was sighted. A north-east gale was encoun-. tered on April 24/ and she shipped immense quantities of water. , The weather got worse on the following day, but the ship rode out the seas safely. The equator was crossed on May 5. Another gale began on May 16, and continued for seven days.: The vessel ran 298 miles during Hie firsji 24 hours, and registered 1658 miles during.the next six days.
