JIANGAEBI, Tuesday. AT the Police Court this morning, before Messrs. H. Weaver ami H. W. Briggs, J.IVs, John Holiday was convicted of jumping on to a train at Kamo station while the said train was in motion on June 17. lie was fined 10s and costs. The Bench said they were determined to put the practice down. News has been received from Sydney that Mr. James McKinnon, the Vhangarei town and county clerk, who is in the hospital there suffering from blood poisoning, is slowly on the mend. On Monday evening the Whangarei District School Committee decided to hold continua-' tion classes at the Ilorahora school buildings as a number, of people could not attend at the Whangarei school, it being too far to go. The headmaster of the Whangarei school (Mr. iS ! . E. McKeime) informed the committee that the new building already showed signs of being too small for the number of children attending. Notice was received from the Education Board that the newly-appointed assistant- master to the Whangarei school could not take up his duties until August 1, as they oould not appoint an assistant-teacher for Ruapeka.peka before that date. It was therefore resolved to ask the Board to temporarily appoint Mrs. Windust in his place at the Whangarei school. Mr. McKenzie reported that Mr. G. George, director of the technical and manual school, would visit the district during the next week.
