Wellington*. Friday. Some of the -.papers have been making inerty at Mr. Seddon's experts' over an incident that occurred at Mr. Massey's Ginchurch meeting. A man described as a Government supporter handed up a question to the Leader of the Opposition, but it was written on the back of a telegram, and when the chairman vend the telegram by mistake, he discovered, to the amusement of the meeting, that it was a message from the Premier, advising the recipient to "(Jive Massey a turn."
Mr. Keddou writes to the Post lb-night', staling that the incident bears a construe* ticm quite d liferent from that placed upon it, He slates': "The facts are that this Mr. Alpin pestered the late Governor, and has been pestering the Government, with a grievance, fancied or real. Life is too short to be troubled with this sort of thing, especially after inquiry and justice has been done: and when Mr. Alpin threatened to hand the correspondence to Mr. Massev. I replied. 'Yes. by all means give Mr. Massey a turn.' Ptobably when Mr. Massey is going through this batch of correspondence 1 shall get a vest." The telegrams which passed air. the Premier states, as follow?: — - Ohristihurch, May 2. 1905. The Premier. Wellington.—Received no telegram. Do you wish me to hand copies correspondence to Mas&or? Kindly .eply.—{Signed) Ai.rtv."
