" RALLY ROUND THE THRONE."
TSAR'S PATHETIC APPEAL FOP* -, ? SUPPORT. The Official Messenger, of St. Petersburg,- 1 publishes an Imperial manifesto calling upon the people to rally round the thro**;; and defend it against the internal enemy.. :/■ The text of the manifesto is as follows: — "An inscrutable Providence has been pleased to visit our Fatherland with, heavy l trials. A bloody war in the Far East, the honour of Russia, and the command oft* the waters of the Pacific Ocean have imposed) a great strain upon strength of: the. Russian people and swallowed up many dear,' victims, near to our heart. • " " ?. ", "While the glorious sons oi Russia are fighting with self-sacrificing bravery, disturbances have.broken out in. our country. itself, to the joy of our enemies'awl to our own deep sorrow. " Blinded by pride, flic evil-minded lead-' ers of the revolutionary movement make insolent attacks on the; Holy Orthodox Church and the lawfully established pillars of the Russian State, thinking that.. by' ' severing the natural connection jflflr the past* they will destroy the existing order 06 „he State, and set up in its place a new administration on a foundation not suitable to our Fatherland."With the help of the prayers of the Holy Orthodox Church, under the banner of the autocratic'might of the Tsar, Russia has already frequently passed through great • ■> wars and disturbances, always issuing front' her trouble* and difficulties with fresh and. unbending strength. "Nevertheless, the recent internal dis- . order and the instability of thought, which, have favoured' the spread of revolt and disturbances, make it our duty to remind ail those in Government institutions and all? authorities of the duties of their office ami of their service oath, and to call upon them to display increased solicitude in the safe-, guarding of law, order, and security, in the firm consciousness of their moral responsibility as servants of the throne and th« Fatherland.
/'Thinking unceasingly of the welfare of our people, and firmly" trusting that Cod,' alter He has tried our patience, will give victory to 0111 amis, we appeal to rightminded people of alt classes to join us, each in, his calling and in his place, in single-' minded co-operation by word and deed, in the great and sacred task of overcoming the stubborn foreign foe and of eradicating revolt at home, and in. wise efforts to check internal confusion.
"Let all those rally round the throne who, true to Russia'* past, honestly and conscientiously have a tare, in accord with ourselves, for every atfair of the State.— Nicholas."
