FATHER HAYS' TOUR.
[«r TELEGRAPH.— ASSOCIATION.]
' 'Wellington*, Tuesday. After the 12th inst. Father Hayes will make his own arrangements for lectures in various parts of the colony.
The Otago Daily Times remarks: —"We are of opinio? that Father Hays has been ill-advised in placing himself so unreservedly in the hands of the prohibitionist party. The influence of his meetings would have been' far more widespread had he visited us simply as a renowned temperance orator and revered servant of the Catholic Church. Herein, General Booth has set Father Hays a commendable example in prudence. Despite all the overtures of the prohibitionist party, General Booth has always declined to ally himself officially with its propaganda, although. there is not one man living who has done so much for the unfortunate drunkard as the head of the Army.''
