THE OYSTER SEASON.
When the Auckland Customs offices closed last evening the collector, Mr. A. Rose, was still without "advices from the Minister for Marina as to the oyster fisheries to be opened for picking in the Auckland provincial district this season. Thus the fishermen who came to' town, iu the hopes of commencing operations in the Hauraki Gulf on Monday are still without their licenses, and retailers and consumers are, so far, dependent upon the oysters from the Manukau leaseholds for their supplies. The bivalves obtainable on these beds are totally inadequate to meet the immediate demands.
