Athens, May i. The High Commissioner for Crete. (Prince George) had caused the hoisting of the Greek flag on the public buildings at Canea. The Consuls representing Britain, Italy, Russia, and France have insisted upon the removal of the Greek flag and the hoisting of the Cretan flag in its place.

International troops have been sent to rescue the 1-4 gendarmes who were captured recently by the rebels at Boukolis.
