STATEMENT BY MR. SEDDON. SURPLUS OF OVER HALF-A -MILLION. [by telegraph.—OWN (ORKESrONDENT.] Wellington, Wednesday. Steaking of finance yesterday, the Premier said that at the end of tho financial year Customs duties exceeded the estimate by £20,000. and, although returns were not yet complete, ho could say with confidence that the surplus for the year would be over half-a-million.
