A HOUSE BURNED.
A repobt ha; becu received by Inspector Cullen. statin; that, the two-storeyed dwelling of Mr. diaries Newman, a farmer, at To l'ua (Hckisville) was destroyed by tire on Tuesday morning. Tho fire was discovered shor.ly after six o'clock by Mr. Newman's tvo sou.;, who saw the dames breaking through the wall of their bedroom. They immediately aroused the other inmates of thi house, who did their best to cheek the progress of the fire. They were unable, however, to do so, and the building, together with the contents, with the exception of a pianoforte, which was saved, was destroyed. The house, which was valued at £600. was insured in the National Insurance Company's office for £400, while the furniture, which was valued at £200, was covered by a policy for £100 in the same office. The cause of the tire is a mystery.
