London*, April 3. lie correspondents at St. Petersburg of the French newspapers say that all idea of making peace has now been absolutely abandoned atSt. Petersburg, and the Avar is to be energetically prosecuted. A rise of Russian •! per cent, stocks to £89 is attributed to the peace rumours. FEELING IN ST. PETERSBURG. (Received* Jt/ivil 1. 10 p.m.) London, April I. Router's Agency at St. Petersburg reports that the members of the war party there say that the losses sustained in the battle of Mukden will be almost, made good before the next big battle takes place. Only a fresh decisive defeat, they say, will incline them to the making of peace. The highest military authorities, however, are reported to have nowveered round in favour of the making of peace. It is understood, continues Renter, that the question of the making of peace will be discussed at an early meeting of the - Council of Ministers to be held at Tsarskoye Selo. At that, meeting reports from General Lincviteb and from the Ambassadors at the capitals in Europe will be considered. (Itcccivcl April 5, 1.10 a.m.) London*, April ■(.
