General Kuropatkin is returning to St. Petersburg to report on the war to the Tsar.
General Lineviteh was promoted to the command in chief at the eleventh hoar. All the generals, including the Grand Duke Nicholas, to whom it was offered, declined the post.
General Sukhoulinoff, however, consented to become chief of staff, ami General Grodekoff goes to the front in an advisory capacity.
The first act of General Linevitch on taking command was to suspend the sending of press telegrams along the wires.
