SCARCITY OF WATER IN OTAGO.
[by TELEGRAPH.PRESS association.] Dpxkdix, Saturday. The Hon. .T. McGowan, Minister for Mines, reached Cromwell 011 Saturday. Tho cry for -water for irrigation and mining purposes lias met him everywhere, deputations at Alexandra, Clyde, and Cromwell bringing tho subject under his notice. With soil that will grow anything, settlement is retarded from tho want of water, all sources being in the hands of the miners. The Minister promised to bring the matter before Cabinet, but ho pointed out that tho water could not be taken from the present holders so long as it was being utilised.
