The British Consul at Baku reports that in the recent conflicts between Tartars and Armenians 2000 people were killed.

St. Petersburg, March 17.

When the news of General Kuroat kin's defeat at Mukden became known, the working people of St. Petersburg held demonstrations of rejoicing, in the belief that the disaster would end the war. The police interfered actively to suppress the demonstrators.
