Ethel Mar Bremner and Joseph Bartlett, corespondent, the husband, a labourer, petitioned for divorce on the grounds of adultery, and claimed £200 damages. All the parties lived together recently at Pine Valley, a back blocks settlement. The petitioner alleged that when he returned after an absence of some days on one occasion, the respondent admitted having had improper relations with the co-respondent, and she continued to live with Bartlett. The defence was that the respondent acted as housekeeper for Bartlett, and that there hud never been any improper relations between them. The jury returned a, finding tint adultery had been committed and £25 was awarded as damages, and costs were fixed at £50. A decree nisi was granted. In re Hannah Spiers v. Win. Spiers, a decree nisi was granted on the grounds of adultery. The business of the sittings has concluded.
