ST. PATRICK'S DAY.
To-day being St. Patrick's Day will be celebrated by a. gathering in the Domain Cricket ground under the auspices of the 11.A.C.8. Society. A feature of the celebrations will be the children's procession. The various parishes assemble at St. Patlick's Cathedral about nine o'clock, and march thence to tho Domain, accompanied by their teachers, members of the ii.A.C.B.S., and brass bands. During the afternoon Messrs. G. 11. Johnstone, the world's Scotch champion, and A. Skinner, the successful Aueklander, will compete in a wrestling match.
Tho Ngarunwahia annual regatta will bo held to-iiuy. The programme include# boat races, canoe hurdle races, Maori war canoe races, and Maori dances. All tho Auckland rowing clubs will be represented in the rowing races. Special trains at reduced rates will leave Auckland at twenty-seven minutes past seven a.m. and five minutes to eight a.m., arriving at Ngaruawahia at eight minutes to eleven a.m. and twentyfive minutes to twelve a.m. respectively. The sports to be held at Hunua to-day promise to attract a largo number of people from surrounding districts, and also a good , many Auckland visitors, who will travel by the ten minutes to eight a.m. train. The prizes amount to £40, and keen competitions are expected.
