[HY TEIKGRAPH.-Pn.ESS ASSOCIATION;] Wellington, Wednesday. James Burgess and Mrs.; Trudgeon, board-house-keepers, of Pctone, were this morning convicted of sly grog-selling. The former was fined £2 and £2 costs, and the latter was convicted and ordered to pay £1 8s 6d costs. ' " Feilding, Wednesday. At the Police Court to-day, before Mr. Thomson, S.M., F. Mitchell, C. Stewart, W. J. Bell, and J. •'• Waldegrave were charged, on the information of the police, with having been found in the Manchester Hotel on Sunday evening, the Bth inst. The ; constable stated "that defendants informed him they were travellers from Palhierston North, and were on the promises for the purpose of obtaining tea. The magistrate held that defendants had proved themselves bona-fide travellers, and dismissed the case.
