Gren- ,.' .fell (Gore), Hunter, and Graves (Waitaki High School), and Gifford (Wellington Collage), had a rough time in the Sounds country They were provisioned for a fortnight, but bad weather cut them off from their supplies for three weeks. Fortunately they had a gun, and subsisted on birds. All suffered appreciably, but- not, it is expected, permanently. They were in Worsley Creek region, near Lake Te Anau, and in the vicinity of Franklin Mountain. They claim F >to have discovered a lake of considerable size.
