DEATH OF A CONGREGATIONAL MINISTER.
[lIT TELEOKAPK.—-PE1533 ASSOCIATION.] , Napier, Tuesday. TirE Rev. H. W. J. Miller, Congregational minister, died to-day after a long and painful illness. Deceased, who was 46 years of age, was educated at the Congregational College in Nottingham, and attended the Glasgow University. Ho was ordained in 1882, arid came to the colony owing to illhealth, ' He was pastor of the Onclnmga Congregational Church for 11 years, and in 1893 was chairman of the Congregational Uniou. In the following your he inaugurated tho Church's work in Napier, and laboured hem feill laid aside by iikess. Doceased was a powerful prohibition, advocate, and did much to. advance the temperance cause in this district. | [The Rev. 11. W. J. Miller was one of the best known Congregation ministers in the [ co.ony. '' He' took an active interest' in all that pertained to the advancement of the young, and was one of the most enthusiastic workers in the temperance reform, being on the council of the Gospel , Temperance Mission. 'He leaves a widow, thiee sons, and two daughters to mourn their loss. At a meeting of the Prohibition League, held last night, the following resolution, was passed : —."That we espies* our deep sympathy with Mrs. Miller and family, of Napier, in the sad bereavement they . have experienced in (he loss by death of the Rev. H. W. J. Miller who : endeared himself to all his co-workers by his kindly self-sacrific-ing spirit, and unremitting devotion to spread the no-license reform. We commend ti»e bereaved family to ' our Heavenly Father's comfort and guidance."]
