George Jotnt Cotton pleaded guilty in the Supreme Court to making a false declaration when registering a, birth, and was son- I tenced to three months' imprisonment, Arthur Percival Crook was sentenced to six months' imprisonment for making a false declaration that he was a bachelor, in order to obtain a marriage certificate. ;John Duncan was sentenced , to five years' imprisonment on two charges of. sheep-stealing. Daniel Nelligan, charged with: assault, causing r actual bodily - harm, was acquitted. Henry Yenaen, oharged with breaking and entering and theft from a dweHteghouse near Waikari, was wtenced to 12 months' imprisonment. Arthur - WiUccac," found guilty of stealing ; a lamb at St. Andrew's, was sent to gaol for sis months.,
There is a probability that the New South Wales Labour Bureau will shortly be abolished. The Cabinet considers that it is an absolute waste of money to continue an. institution which was rendered necessary in order to arrange for the selection of men to be employed on numerous relief and other works. The Cabinet has t asked the members of the Public Service Board to inquire as to whether or not it is possible" for that body . to undertake the small amount of work involved in keeping a register of unemployed men and selecting for employment tkose _ most in need of immedwte assistance.. .
