ST. ANDREW'S CHURCH HALL.
The new hall attached to St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church was opened yesterday afternoon, the Ladies' Guild connected with the church taking the opportunity to raise money for the hall fund by a. bazaar in connection with the 'Opening ceremony. The members of the guild have, been busily employed for some considerable time preparing for the bazaar, and the result was an exceedingly • tempting display of various kinds of goods to attract coin from the pockets of visitors to the hall. There was a large attendance at the opening ceremony, which was performed by the Hon. E. Mitohelson (Mayor of Auckland). The Rev. H. B. Gray having formally opened the proceedings Mr. L. J. Bagnall (chairman of the" Building Committee) explained that the hall and furnishing would cost altogether £1900. The Ladies' Guild had already handed over £282, the individual subscriptions amounted to £381, and £11.00 had been borrowed, making the total now in hand £1763. The Mayor then, in a few happy words, declared the hall and bazaar open and expressed the hope that the bazaar would bo a financial success. The following were the stallholders :~* Fancy work stall, Mesdames McDowell, W. Johnston, and Lindsay, and Misses Campbell and Bagnall; refreshments and amusements, Mesdames Jones, Gray, Geddes, Broadfoot, Cashel, Forster, Shearer, Crombie, J. Reid, Culpan, Wishart, Gorrie, and Craig; art stall, Mesdames Oliphant, Passmore, and Gray, and Miss Macdonald ; doll stall, Misses Richmond and Culpan; flower - stall, Mesdames Wick, Misses Dallen, Jessie Frater, L. Winks, Davy, and Mary Oliphant; produoe stall, Mesdames Runciman,: Hall, and Bagnall, Misses Smith, E. Elliott, and Anderson; fishpond, Minses Thome, Mary and Jessie Geddes, and Maud Davy; sweets stall, Misses Pearl Gorrie, Frater, Runciman, and A. Johnson; plain work, Mesdames Gray, McCaul, Ker, Crombie, Elliott, Ferguson, Doull, and Miss Milne; cushion stall, Mesdames Gray, Macdonald, Thome, Davy, and Miss Winks. Splendid business was done during the day. The bazaar will remain open to-day and to-morrow. , The total receipts for the day were £145 16s 6d. I ~.'.. ' The following musical programme was rendered during the evening:—Scotch reel, by children of St. Andrew's Society; "The Soldiers' Chorus. Miss Lester, Messrs. Walton, Blotfc, and others; duet, " Venetian Song," Mesdames Coates and Archdale Tayler; quartette, "Lucky Jim," the Unique Quartette; song, "Down the Vale," Mrs. Abel Rowe;* trio, "Come, Where My Love Lies Dreaming," Mesdames Coatos, Lawry, and Tayler; dance, Highland fling, by children of St. Andrew's Society; song, " The Indifferent Mariner," Mr. J. W. Ryan; quartette; "Annie Laurie," the Unique' Quartette; selections by Miss Lester, Messrs. Walton, Boswell, Blott, and others. ■ ■
