NEW CHELMSFORD G.M. CO. The annual meeting of shareholders in the New Chelmsford Gold Mining Company was held at the office of the secretary (Mr. A. L. White) yesterday, Mr. T. T. Masefield : presiding The directors' report, which was adopted, stated that it was the intention of the board at the reconstruction of the company to work from the low level, but on examination it was found that this had fallen in to such an extent'that the cost of repairin- would be very considerable. After consultation with the manager, who had opened up a payable reef above the No. 1 level, and which showed gold in.the stone, the board considered it in the interests of the company to work at this part m the meantime 'The. results had proved satisfactory, as 80 tons of stone were treated, yielding from the plates alone £103 2s 3d. The tad, mas had vet to be treated with cyanide. Other reef* had been located. The balanceiS which was also adopted showed, a cash balance of £8 16s 6d. The retiring directors (Messrs. T. T. Masefield and W. Bailev) were re-elected, as was the auditor (Mr. William ■ Kayll). . - ■ K In his latest report, the mine manager states that crushing. will be started on the 31st ins't. In the mine the reef in the leading stope below the winze above No. 2 level is g a good body of ore, and the face going north from the bottom of the winze is looking well. No. 2 reef at No. 1 level is producing ore of good'quality.

KURANTJI G.M. CO. The manager of the Kuranui Gold Mining Company's mine reports that the rise on the Shotover reef is up to the intermediate level on No. 1 leader and connection made with that level. The two lodes here are about Bft apart. The ground: has been secured and a start has been made to open, out on the lode, which is about, 3ft wide, in good country, well defined, and with strong indications of meeting with gold very soon. A crosscut has been started from about down the shaft to cut the Mo. 1 and Shotover reefs, which are expected to be met with about the end of next week. "Rom the appearance of the country below the shaft level the manager considers that gold will very likely be met with in this quarter. An extraordinary general meeting of shareholders will be held this morning at the company's office, Victoria. Arcade, to consider a proposal to increase the capital of ho company to £25,000 by the creation of 40,000 new shares at 5s each.

PAEROA WARDEN'S COURT. [BY telegraph.— own correspondent.] Paeroa, Thursday. At the sitting of the Warden's Court at Paeroa to-day the following applications were granted:— Burgess and Reginald Dixon, Silver Stream special quarts', claim of 100 acres at Marototo; Charlotte Graham, residence site at Karangahake (subject, to declaration being filed) ; _ J*. C Brown and J. A. Thomson, protection for six months for eight special river claims on Ohinemiiri River; Waitekauri Gold Mining Company, Limited, protection for six months for Golden Cross, Waitekauri, Croesus, Socket, California, Junction, Grace Darling and Waitekauri Extended special claims; Thomas Scanlon, residence site at Karangahake. ■ •• - ' ' , Permission to cut timber was granted as follows:—Charles Franklin, 40 punn trees, between Owharoa and Karangahake; Thomas John Cummings, six riinu trees on Oummings' creek. . , Applications by the Waitekauri Gold Mining Company, Limited, for protection for two water-races and one machine site were forwarded to the Minister. The Receiver of Golden Revenue sued John Diamond for forfeiture of a residence site at Golden Cross for non-payment of rent. Forfeiture was decreed and defendant was ordered to pay 30s rent and 15s costs.
