NEW FOUR-IN-HAND G.M. CO. The manager of tho New Four-in-Hand Gold. Mining Company's mine, reporting upon the reef cut at No. 4 level two days ago, states that he considers it- must be the" left-hand branch which proved so rich in the upper levels. In the floor of the drive the lode is over 4ft wide, and this is where the 811> of picked stone cam© from. Gold is freely seen through the whole of the quartz broken out. Four men are being put on to work the reef. The lode cut at the intermediate- level about three weeks ago was not driven upon for more than a few feet. The latest discovery, tho manager considers, willprove to be an important, on©. NEW UNA. G.M. CO. The manager of the Now Una Gold Mining Company's mine reports that since passing through the leader that produced a few nice golden stones in tho May Queen Extended Gold Mining Company's property, the drive to intersect the Rocky Point reef has been penetrating excellent country for gold-bearing lodes. It was advanced 18ft last week. WAIHI EXTENDED G.M. CO. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] WAIHI, Wednesday. In the Waihi Extended Gold Mining Company's mine the sinking of the winze has been temporarily suspended, and a start has been made to open out on the lode at- the bottom (between 40 and 50ft down). The mineral vein is about 2ft wide, and is smaller than where intersected above. HAURAKI FREEHOLDS G.M. CO. [fIY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] • Coromandkl, Wednesday. The Hauraki Freeholds Company has made application to the County Council for water, to be utilised as power for winding purposes. If granted tho new method of haulage will mean a considerable saving, as instead of the dirt having to be trucked a distance of some 1500 ft, it will bo brought to the surface through tho old Golconda and Hauraki North shafts, in the immediate vicinity of the -company's present scene of operations. . ' RUBY CLAIM. [BY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Coeomandel, Wednesday. Messrs. Kolso and Radford have intersected Melsop's leader in the drive in the Ruby mino from the crosscut below the winze. Gold is visible in tho ore broken out, and the indications are that a good block is now ready tor stoning. > KURANUI-CALEDONIAN G.M. CO. j [BY TELEGRAPH.OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Wednesday. In the Kuranui-Caledonian Gold Mining: Company's mine- the winze on the Cambria roof is now down 55ft. The country is not favourable for good progress. Tho footwall portion of the reef only is being worked, to a width of about 6ft, and is of a kindly nature, and well mineralised, although no' gold has yet been seen. OLD ALBURNIA G.M. CO. [BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Thames, Wednesday. The manager of this mine lias decided (before commencing the new contract for driving on No. 1 reef) to take out a trial crushing from below the floor of the level. For this purpose an underhand • stope has been started, and will be continued until sufficient quartz has been obtained to have a fair trial crushing, so as to ascertain j the actual battery value, of the ore.
