ENTERTAINMENTS.
RICKARDS' VAUDEVILLE COMPANY. Thebb was a largD attendance at His Majes?ty's rneatro last night, when Mr. Harry Ritkards' company gave their second performance. The programme had been wisely curtailed by the management, and in x>nsequenoß was much, mora compact and enjoyable, concluding at a reasonable hour. Madame Marzella and her troupe of wonderfully trained birds created a deal of enthusiasm, the clever feats of the feathered artistefl being vociferously applauded. Mr. Will Van Allen, the musical tramp, repeated his admirable musical and humorous sketch, which was well received. Miss May Moore Duprez, the jolly Dutch girl, won fresh admirers, Miss Maud Beatly again had a popular reception, Mr. J. W. Wintoh'a ventriloquijil interlude created much amusement, and Miss Maud Eaning and her little daughter were heartily received. A number of other artistes • assisted in a varied ■ entertainment, which will be presented again to-night and following nights, and at a special matinee on Saturday next.
FULLERS' EMPIRE.COMPANY. ' At the Opera House, last evening, Miss Dorothy Drew made her first appearance with Fullers' Empire Company, and created a, most favourable impression. She first contributed " Waiting Here for Julia" and "Tell Me You Love Me, Barney," and followed these items with the fxion creation, "Any Rags, Any Bottles," and was recalled. All the other artistes acquitted themselves well. CONCERT AT THE VETERANS' HOME. The College Rifles, on behalf of Mrs. R. H. Davies, gave an enjoyable entertainment to the veterans at the home on Saturday evening last. The programme, which was on military and patriotic lines, was as follows: — Bugle selection, Bugler C. O. Mahony ; song, "King's Own," Sergeant'J. Cullen; tableau. "The Girl I Left Behind Me," Miss E. Dawson, Private H. R. Sellers, Bong by Private H. Brasses; recitation, " Flag of England," Sergeant G. Neville; song, "Sons of the Empire," Private P. Steele; manual exercise, sqiiad members of company; song, "When the Empire Calls," Private P. BagBall; song, "The Gallants of England," Pri?ato H. Brassey: recitation, " Back to the Army Again," Lieutenant L. M. Shera; . song. "The Old Brigade,' Sergeant O. Coles; physical drill, squad members of company; song, " The Old Folks at Home," Miss E. Kinder; gong, " Three Cheers for the Red, White, and Blue," Private H. Steele; tableau, "Rule Britannia." song by Sergeant J. CulBritannia, Miss E. Cooke; Scotland, Miss M. Dawson: Ireland, Miss K. Shera; India, Private H. Steele; South Africa, Private P. Steele; Australia, Private J. 11. Gosset; Canada, Bugler A. Price; New Zealand, Corporal S. A. Chatfield; Mounted Rifles, Lieutenant H. Whyte ; the Navy, Sergeant C. D. Cooke end Private L. P. Ilardio, the Army, Sergeant J. Whyte and Private W. Whyte; the Volunteers, Sergeant G. Coles and Private H. R. Sellers. Miss I. Whyte acted as accompanist. At the conclusion of the concert Captain Goodwyn Archer thanked Mrs. Davies, Colonel Davies, and the College Rifles for their kind visit. Colonel Davies suitably replied, the veterans giving three cheers for the visi- : tors. /
