BUNKER'S HILL G.M. CO. The manager of the Bunker's Hill-Gold Mining Company reports that when breaking down the lode in the underhand stops on Wednesday last, he secured another lib of specimen stone. Another breakingdown was to tike place yesterday, and this would finish work in the stope, as the water is at the bottom of it. If the influx of water can. be coped with, the manager will, if possible, take along another underhand stope. ':'.,;;: '. % J: M .% : '"';'■"
HARBOUR VIEW G.M. CO. " The manager of the Harbour View Gold Mining Company reports as follows: The leader cut a day or two ago proves to be about 2in in width, and is composed of kindly-looking quartz, intermixed with calcite. Wher-a cut through it shows no gold, but the encasing country is highly favourable, and I think only requires developing, to prove gold-bearing. Attention 'Will be given to this, as" well as other ■ leads already passed through, when .our main reefs are intersected. The face is being pushed ahead as .fast as the nature of the country, which is again very tight, will allow. To date the crosscut has been advanced a total distance of J 400 ft. An additional 50ft requires to be driven to cut the Rainbow lead', after which a further few feet of driving! should intersect the footwall lead, and should the present very favourable country continue, ]. have every reason to believe payable ore will be met with, The ventilation is now first-class. " NEW MOANATAIARI G.M. CO. There was a smart rise in New Moanataiari shares on the Stock \ Exchange yesterday. Business was done up to 4s lOd, • or an advance of more than Is upon the previous day's prices.? There was no de- ■'. finite information to -account for the rise., hut persistent rumours'were in circulation to the effect that the company had met with ' encouraging developments. Our Thames correspondent telegraphs as follows:—lmproved prospects are being met with in the New Moanataijari Company's winze upon the footwall of, the Cambria reef below No. 3 level as depth is reached, ! and the outlook for still better results as i the work progresses is very good indeed; 1 A depth of about 52ft lias already been attained, and the mineralised vein mainiaias a thickness of from 18in to 2ft,. and at the present moment is looking better than,, at any time since the winze was commenced. As an evidence of this fact during the last few days, dabs and colours of gold have been seen freely distributed thioughout the whole width of the mineralised -ore, but so far nothing has been obtained that could b* classed as picked stone. It would not be surprising, however, if picked stone were met with at any moment now, especially ii the improvement shown during the last day or two continues. :• ; THAMES BORING OPERATIONS. fjiY TELEGRAPH. —OWN CORRESPONDENT,* Thames, Thursday.
