He went out by himself in a small dingey to .move a snag that had stranded in the way of an expected steamer, but whilst at work his boat capsized and filled. He was unable to right it. He hung on and hailed the steamer, but there was some delay in rescuing him, he having drifted out to sea. After being carried home, some time elapsed before he had completely recovered. '
