The current issue of the Atck Weekly News deals with a remarkable variety of subjects of wide general interest. One of the chief features of the issue is a fine full-page picture of our Parliament in session. The photograph was speciallytaken for the News, and the excellent reproduction depicts effectively a group of our legislators, including the Premier and Leader of the Opposition, in the lobby ot Parliament Buildings. This is the best picture of our Parliament which has ever been published, and will bo of special in terest to all classes of tho community. War scenes in the Far East depict some of the most stirring incidents iR the recent battles on. the Liao-tung Peninsula, and some excellent views of the town of Port Arthur, now being bombarded by the Japanese. Oamaru, one of Ota go's principal seaport towns, is lust-rated by two fine double-page panoramics, one taken from the post office tower, showing the principal buildings and some of the harbour, the other .giving a general view of the town and breakwater. These views are the finest of Oama.ru yet published, and convey an excellent idea of the size and importance of the town and harbour. Scenes on tho overland route from Christchurch to Hokitika include some beautiful South Island scenery; the Waitara Freezing Works fire is illustrated by a view of the ruins, and the buildings before the conflagration. The General Slocum disaster, 011 the East River, at New York, by which 1200 lives were lost, comprise views of the steamer sinking, and the wreckage after the fire. Numerous other groups, views, and portraits, including the Wellington football representatives who play in Auckland on Saturday next, George Towns, the world's champion sculler, the County Councils' Conference and Acclimatisation Societies' Conference, together with abundance ot high-class letterpress, contribute to a most attractive number, and a publication which for general public interest stands unrivalled in the colonies.
