ROMAN REMAINS NEAR LONDON.
An interesting discovery was recently: made in a field at Mitcham, near London. While excavating the skeletons of seven men, with spears « lying ■ beside tl em, ; were found, and a little distance away three more skeletons were discovered =in good, condition. They are evidently the remains; of < ten Roman officers, buried ; vitb their martial weapons. One skeleton had spurs lying by its heels, : and a Roman % broadsword, about 18in long, was 'at its side. Another had, v besides its spear, a buckler and a short spear at-the waist. They are thought to have been buried some fifteen hundred years ago. A beautiful i glazed ■vase was also found in one of the graves, another' illustration ;of the perfection '£the art ot pottery bad reached with the Romans.
