WRECK OF THE AUSTRALIA.
PILOT DENNIS RESIGNS. By Telegraph.—Press Association.—Copyright. Melbourne, June 24. Pilot Dennis has applied to the Marine Board for permission to resign, on the ground of ill-health. The application is supported by several medical certificates, showing that his health generally is bad, and that the state of his eyesight is defective. It is almost the unanimous opinion of nautical experts that Llody's statement as to the aids to navigation at Port Phillip being defective is unjustified. (Received Jan*, 25,* l.li a.m.) Melbourne, June 24. The sea hfcving moderated considerably, the salving of the Australia's cargo has been resumed. The preliminary inquiry of the Marine Board has concluded, and a full inquiry has been ordered. Pilot Dennis' report states that the only reason he could assign for the wreck is that he was suddenly taken ill. The consideration of his application for leave to resign has been postponed Until after the inquiry.
