r tit TEi.Eon.srn.— correspondent.] *, '■■' Thames, Thursday. A FIRE occurred itt Hikutaia on Tuesday night last, which' resulted in ' the' total destruction of Mr. F. Strang*'* store and contents. No particulars are available here regarding the outbreak, but it is understood that when the fire was first discovered the building was one mass of flames. It is stated here that a considerable quantity of stores belonging to Messrs. Faithful and McConnell, bush contractors at Otamakitai, were in the building at the time, and also a quantity for Mr. Thos. Killgour, all of which was destroyed. The building is said to have been the.property of Mr. James Corbett, proprietor of the Hikutaia Hotel. It is not known here whether there was any insurance, but it is almost certain the building was insured. >:»>■'..
