AUCKLAND BOWLING CLUB. ;■' The annual general meeting of members of tho Auckland Bowling Club was held in the clubroom, Grafton green, last evening, Mr. Win. Lambert, president, in the chair. There was a very fair attendance of members. The annual report, as presented by the hon. secretarv (Mr. G. A. Buttle), congratulated the members on a successful season and a satisfactory- financial position. After touching on the "Northern Bowling Association's tournament, and the success that had attended the efforts of the club's representatives at the To Aroha and Rotorua tournaments, the report made mention of the doings of the member? at the Auckland Asso-. ciation's annual tournament, when they won the three principal competitions—penaant flag, champion fours, and first-year players' teams match. The club championship was won by Mr. G. M. Handcock. In accordance with the resolution adopted at the last annual meeting, the club had secured new jackets and distinctive badges, and the majority of the members had availed themselves of these, though some few had not yet adopted the new dress. It. was hoped that those who had not purchased the dub uniform would do so at an early date, in order that all might be dressed alike. The treasurer's (Mr. J. Carlaw) financial statement showed a credit balance of £76 10s 7d, and added that £100 had been paid off the mortgage on the club's property. The total assets amounted to £1254 8s 7d in excess of liabilities, represented by a mortgage of £700. :..■.' The Chairman, after briefly reviewing the report and accounts, which he said reflected groat credit on the responsible . for their preparation, touched with regret on the death of two well-known • members, in the persons of the late Mr. Wm. Anderson and Br. Goldie. news of whose demise had only just been, received in town. The report and accounts were then unanimously adopted. The Chairman, on behalf of the members of tho club, then presented Mr. Arthur Towaey, who is leaving to take up his residence in Wanganui, with a handsome travellingcase and a nieture of the pavilion and green. In handing over the tokens of esteem Mr. Lambert said, that one and all regarded the recipient as a good howler and good fellow, and general regret was felt at his approaching departure from their midst. They one and all trusted that both Mr. '• and Miss Towsey would meet with the success they merited in their new sphere. M*. Towsey returned thanks in. a neat speech, in the course of which he said he would ever look back with pleasure to the many pleasant days ho had spent on tho Auckland Club's, green, and prize for all time the token his fellow-members had given him, recognising as he did the kindly feeling that had prompted the gift. The election of officers was then proceeded with, the first office being that of president. The Chairman, in nominating Mi. William : Ctilpan for the position, said that the honour could not be more fittingly pkced, as his nominee was one of the oldest and most popular members of the club, and one who had done much for the sport of bowling. He then pinned the insignia of office on the new president's breast. Mr. Culpajj, in acknowledging the honour, said he felt extremely proud to have the confidence of his fellowmembers, and to find himself elected to snob an important office. It would always be his pleasure to do his utmost to forward the bes+ interest? of the club. Other officers were then elected as under:—Vice-presi-dents. Messrs. Win. Elliot and J. M. Mennie; hon. secretary, Mr. G. A. Buttle: hon. treasurer, Mr. Jas. Carlaw; committee of management (after a ballots ten members being nominated), Messrs. Wm. Gorrie, L. Myers, R. Tudehope, A. .T.
