HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

'■ —_ : *»- — A SPECIAL meeting of the Hamilton Borough Conncil was held on Friday evening. The Council went into committee to consider the waterworks by-laws as supplied by Mr. Swarbrick. solicitor to the borough. iney were adopted as submitted. The captain of the newly-formed brigade forwarded a report as follows:-That the members had resolved that the brigade be called the Hamilton Municipal Fire Brigade, and receive from the Council the ordinary rates of payment, viz. 2s 6cl per man for the first hour and Is 6d for the second hour, and Is per•how after- . wards. The report suggested that several ; appliances should be procured m addition to , those in stock and ordered ; also. .that.. a small out-station should be established in Hamilton -East with a few buckets and one or two ladders. The names, of the members of the brigade were given as follows: Messrs. G Prince (captain)., S. Hmghs (first Hen tenant). A. Burgess Second heuwnant). J. M. Emerson (foreman). J.
