The final competition for the Devonport Submarine Miners' challenge cup was fired at the Mount Eden range on Saturday. The weather was in favour of good shooting, and tho previous winner (Seaman J. H. Langley), who had established a lead of 10 points in the first competition this year, again increased his advantage by eight points from First-class Petty-offic pr Nelson, who shot well and finished second. Seaman Vazey, who did not tire in the -first competition, put on 70 points. The eup, which is annually fired for, has to be won twice in succession or three times fit _ intervals, and a a Seaman Langley has again won this year it now be-, comes his envs property, together with the annual trophy presented by the captain of tno corps. As the shooting was in three positions at the 200yds—prone (seven shots), . kneeling (seven shots), and standing (seven shots) tho score of Seaman Langlev was therefore very creditable. He put on 34 in the prone position, 31 kneeling, and 26 standing. The three highest scores arn as under: Seaman J. 11. Langley: Second match Prone 34, kneeling 31, standing 26: total 81. First match, PP.. Aggregate, 173. First-class Petty-ofticsr 11. Nelson: Second match—Prone 31, kneeling 31, standing 21: total, 83. First match, 72. Aggregate, 155. First-class Petty-officer W. Parker: Second match—Prono 26, kneeling 24, standing 19: total, 69. First match, 68. Aggregate, 137.
